Provincially approved
Driving home in the dark night of winter.
W
hile lounging about at home without much activity, I was interrupted by a chirp from the instant messenger on my computer. It was Sue, my would-be boss in Vancouver.

Papers have been processed up here, she said. And new space has been secured. The company has a new address, and I have a letter of acceptance from the Provincial Nominee Program that encourages me to get a work permit and begin on May 1.

There are still many, many steps to go, and I'm not in by a long shot. But this was the first major hurdle to my immigration. At this point, now, I'm going to have to travel to Seattle at some point to apply for the work permit. Once I have that, I can move to Vancouver and begin work.

This is good news for the job. After all that waiting last summer, fall and winter, there is finally a result.
