Both of our contacts were well beyond the two-week wear limit, so instead of squinting through the second half at a distant television, Joe and I opted for the cozy familiarity of Bud Nameck on the AM radio in the truck. We drove to Panda Express and ate excessive amounts of Orange Chicken. On a whim, we checked the nutritional information and found that Orange Chicken is far and away, hands down the most unhealthy item at Panda Express. Dang.
Tomorrow, I'll probably need to clean up and begin the temporary job search in earnest. I also want to catch up on all the ChrisRodkey.com entries, because once the unemployment ends, I have no reason to be in the dark. Lots of writing ahead.
T
oday: a luxurious trip into town. Not before repairing some storm damage around the house to the various lights that burned out and wire reindeer that fell over.
In the evening I went in to Spokane and, trying to avoid the ever vigilant and belittling Spokane Police parking lot enforcement around GU, I picked up Joe. We drove all the way out to Players and Spectators in the Valley and tried to find a seat to watch the game. Regrettably, we ended up having to pull out two dining chairs and placed them in the middle of a hallway, just so we could catch a glimpse at the WSU/Gonzaga basketball game playing on the screen 50 feet away.
We watched as best we could, and I noticed several familiar faces among the clientele, mostly people who I'd interviewed for stories in the Valley last year. People who owned small businesses and were living it up amongst the biggest crowd I'd ever seen assembled in any one place in Spokane Valley.
