I pulled a great genius move today, and since it was sunny and warm when I left for the Kaimin, I just wore a t-shirt. At 1 a.m., the t-shirt was a bad idea, and the drunk bus doesn't run on Tuesdays. So I bee-lined it for Knowles Hall, my closest point of refuge where people were still awake, and decided to warm up there.
But it was so great to see Lucas back in town. When I return, inevitably, to Spokane after graduation, I can't wait to see him.
I
t was a total surprise to hear Lucas call me today, and he was telling me that he was in town for a Volumen show. Tonight!
So I left my mid-afternoon haze and went to the Kaimin, where I found Lucas. We picked up some Sparks from the store and went back to the office to tip a few back. The foosball table saw action unlike any in recent memory. Out of respect, I will not mention the scores.
With Cory in tow, we continued along to the Press Box where we watched the Brewers lose and the Mariners win. Later, we moved down to the Union Club and watched the show. Up first, an nice performance by Two Year Toque. Then, some Pleaseeasaur group which was REALLY odd, and then finally a nice show by the Volumen. The entire Missoula indie-music scene was there: 30 people. Times have changed.
Want to hear something crazy? I think I saw this "Lucas" fellow in Spokane walking around downtown. Of course, I said nothing, because whether or not it was him, it is uncouth to walk up to people and admit you read chrisrodkey.com, regardless of whether or not they know what the fuck you're talking about.
Plus, remember when we were telling that Pita Pit guy about our pending indie-pep band, and he was just flat hating? Also, Pleaseeasaur rules. Check out his myspace site and download "No Prob Limo."
